Hainan Airline partners with the Seattle International Film Festival, now in its 43rd year.

SIFF creates experiences bringing people together to discover extraordinary films from around the world with the Seattle International Film Festival, SIFF Cinema and SIFF Education. Recognized as one of the top film festivals in North America, SIFF is the largest, most highly attended festival in the United States reaching more than 155,000 annually. The 25-day festival is known for its wide-ranging and eclectic programming, presenting more than 400 features, short films and documentaries from more than 80 countries each year. The event began May 18 and lasts through June 11.

The film festival presents its second year of the China Stars Showcase series, presenting 12 feature films along with five short films from students of the Beijing Film Academy. With support from WASA North America Group and Hainan Airlines fostering cultural exchange and artistic vision, the China Stars Showcase features stories from thriller and family-friendly comedy to a discovery of an inter-dimensional portal. The 12 films reflect the breadth of independent films in China currently. The China Stars award presentations occur Friday, June 9, at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Seattle.

If you’re interested in attending the festival, view the schedule for screenings by day and the film guide to browse films by genre, country, mood and other filters. Individual tickets are available on each film page. Tickets are $14, but there are discounts for weekday matinees, students, seniors and SIFF members. Full series passes are also available.

Located between India to the south and China to the north, Bhutan is one of the most beautiful destinations in the world. Bhutan came late to global tourism. It opened its borders to international visitors in 1974 and, while tourism definitely increased, residents are enduring “light” rush-hour traffic in Thimphu, its capital city, as the only Asian capital without traffic lights.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
