The Gelato World Tour will be making its way to Chicago May 27–29. The three-day event is free to the public and hosted in Millennium Park. One of the event’s top highlights is the competition between 16 teams for the title of World’s Best Gelato — America’s East. The top three contenders will represent the region at the final Gelato World Tour stop in Rimini, Italy, in 2017. Flavors guests can expect to taste and vote for include honey and sunflower biscotti, maple, passion fruit ricotta with candied walnuts, saffron pistachio, Texas whiskey and pecan and more. Educational workshops will also be available for guests to learn about gelato or even how to open their own gelato shop. Chicago is the 10th stop on the tour’s list, following prior appearances in Rome, Valencia, Melbourne, Dubai, Austin, Berlin, Rimini, Singapore and Tokyo. Carpigiani Gelato University and Sigep–Rimini Fiera created the event.
