The 2014 Global Business Travel Association annual convention took over downtown Los Angeles in July, bringing together travel industry movers and shakers from around the globe to the City of Angels. To celebrate the industry-leading conference, Global Traveler once again hosted its annual GBTA cocktail reception with partners Boeing and LATAM.

More than 100 guests journeyed to Morocco at our Casablanca-themed event, held at the Figueroa Hotel’s Rick’s Place. Guests mingled with the GT staff and Rick himself (Ellis Martin as Humphrey Bogart) while enjoying the 1930s and 1940s classics of Liz Holmes Retro Swing Band. With the sun setting over the Los Angeles skyline, guests chatted about the ever-changing travel industry and what to expect in 2015.

“It was a blast celebrating Global Traveler’s annual reception during the 2014 GBTA convention. We really got into the theme this year, with the quirky Figueroa Hotel providing the perfect backdrop,” said Francis X. Gallagher, publisher and CEO. “Once again, the convention was a great success, and it was a pleasure celebrating the industry and spending an evening of good food, music and laughs with our valued clients, partners and friends.”

FXExpress Publications, Inc., Global Traveler’s parent company, celebrated the launch of its newest venture, Trazee Travel, at the convention. Now available at trazeetravel.com, the website is dedicated to the über-millennial, aged 18–35, and covers everything travel, from A to Z.

This year marked the 46th annual Global Business Travel Association convention, with more than 7,000 attendees from hotels, airlines, travel companies, travel publications and corporate travel departments. The 47th annual convention will be held in Orlando in July 2015.
