Four Seasons Hotel Austin debuted an exclusive new tequila created in partnership with Herradura. The Four Seasons Herradura tequila is available at the hotel this month across its various food and dining venues. The double-barrel aged tequila, distilled from 100 percent agave, rested in a toasted oak barrel 11 months before resting in a new oak barrel a final month.

“We chose that particular barrel because the oak had lots of vanilla and round edges, characteristics that were reminiscent of an anejo,” said Bre Hart, bartender, Four Seasons Hotel Austin. “We felt it could easily be enjoyed as a sipping tequila.”

In the hotel’s Latin-inspired restaurant Live Oak, guests enjoy the tequila in the La Arboleda cocktail, an old fashioned-based drink that combines the spirit with orange bitters and a mezcal rinse. The cocktail is also available deconstructed in order to sample the tequila before mixing the drink oneself.

“The smell of the tequila was very important when we chose our barrel, so it’s the emphasis of this cocktail,” said Matt Foster, bartender. “Bringing the glass to your nose, you smell the flavors of the oak, vanilla and agave, all mixed with the scent of the citrus that exists on the grounds of Herradura.”

At Ciclo, guests sample the Four Seasons Herradura in the new 1870 cocktail, which plays on mole flavors like fruit, chili pepper and chocolate.

The tequila is also available on the hotel’s on-demand margarita cart.
