Designed to highlight the winding Snake River Canyon and fronting the national forest, the course is considered by Weiskopf to be his “finest U.S. course to date.” The 554-acre parcel is surrounded on three sides by Bridger-Teton National Forest and boasts more than 6 miles of frontage along the Snake River, one of the region’s most famous fly-fishing waterways. The views will be unique, planners say. “On
any number of holes, golfers might catch a glimpse of elk or moose,” said
Stephen Schram, managing partner of DPS Development Co., which helmed
the course. Created with environmental and sustainable design in mind,
the course has already earned a “Signature Sanctuary” designation
from Audubon International. It will begin welcoming Snake River Sporting
Club members and their guests later this year. For more information,

Working
Out at Essex House While I make it a point to work out regularly at a health club near home, I don’t always get the opportunity to do so while traveling out of town. Usually, this is because the fitness centers at the hotels or resorts I’m staying at have restricted hours; other times, it’s because I’m deterred by the fees charged for using these centers. So I was pleasantly surprised to discover I could work out free of charge while staying at the Essex House in New York City recently. At first, I thought I would get an abbreviated workout, but not so: The fitness center offered an assortment of equipment, including treadmills, bikes, a dumbbell rack with weights ranging from 2 to 60 pounds, a bench and weight machines. There was even an area with medicine balls, as well as some other gadgets I tried for the first time. That was enough to keep me busy for almost two hours. And the fitness center was open 24/7 to boot! | ||
