Delta Air Lines will expand its trans-Pacific offerings with a new Atlanta (ATL)–Shanghai (PVG) route that launches July 2018. The route will mark the airline’s fourth U.S. link to the Chinese city; it also offers flights from Detroit (DTW), Seattle (SEA), and Los Angeles (LAX).
The flight will link 150 destinations in the United States and Latin America with Shanghai, and will connect 50 Chinese destinations with codeshare partner China Eastern.
“Strong demand for Delta service across the Pacific and to China nonstop from the U.S. as well as our China Eastern partnership make this route compelling for both business and leisure travelers,” said Ed Bastian, CEO, Delta. “We look forward to connecting Delta’s hometown and China Eastern’s home with this route, while offering our customers innovative products, thoughtful in-flight service and leading operational reliability.”
“This is a huge win for Georgia jobs and businesses,” said U.S. Senator David Perdue. “I’m glad to see Delta leading the charge to connect the U.S. business sector to one of the world’s largest financial hubs in Shanghai.”
The route will use a Boeing 777-200LR, which carries 291 people and offers amenities including WiFi; in-flight, seat-back entertainment screens; power ports; complimentary meals and drinks; and more.
