Global Traveler Journal Photo Contest Terms and Conditions TO ENTER. Contest begins at 12:01 a.m. EST, August 3, 2009. No purchase or payment is necessary in order to participate in the Contest. PRIZE. Photos will be chosen for publication in Global Traveler. Winners will also receive 10,000 PCR points. ODDS. Odds of winning the prize depend upon the number of eligible entries received. ELIGIBILITY. Contest is open to Priority Club Rewards members who are legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia who are age 18 or older at time of entry. Entrant must be a Priority Club Rewards member at the time the prize is awarded to qualify. Employees of FXExpress Publications Inc. and InterContinental Hotels Group, parent and affiliated companies, and the respective advertising and promotion agencies of the foregoing and members of the immediate families (spouses and parents, siblings, children and their spouses) and members of the same households of such individuals, whether related or not, are not eligible. Void in Puerto Rico and where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. DRAWING/PRIZE AWARD. Three winners will be chosen from the photos submitted. Winner will be alerted via email. If winner is not of the age of majority in state of residence, required documents must be confirmed and signed by winner's parent or legal guardian. Winner is responsible for any and all federal, state and local taxes. Only listed Prize will be awarded and no substitutions, cash equivalents or redemptions will be made. WINNER'S LIST. For name of winner, mail a self-addressed stamped envelope to "Global Traveler Journal Photo Contest" Winner's List, P.O. Box 508, Yardley, PA 19067-8508. AUTHORIZATION AND RELEASE I hereby authorize FX Express Publications, Inc. and Global Traveler magazine (here all collectively referred to as, "Global Traveler"), and SCH, for and in consideration of their allowing me and my work-product to participate in their photography contest, to use, publish, republish, publicize, reproduce, reprint, and transmit to third parties for their further use, publication, republication, reproduction and reprinting, of my photography, my personal likeness, and other personal information about me which I may give them as part of my participation in the Global Traveler/SCH photography contest. I agree that my photo(s) will not be obscene or infringe the copyright, or violate the privacy, publicity of any third party. I represent the photo(s) is my own original work. I agree that Global Traveler and SCH shall have the right to edit, adapt and publish any or all of my photography, my personal likeness, and other personal information about me which I may give them as part of my participation in the Global Traveler/SCH photography contest and may use them in any media without attribution or compensation to me, my successors or assigns, or any other entity. A submission in this contest constitutes my agreement to grant Global Traveler and SCH an irrevocable royalty-free worldwide license to reproduce and display the entry or any derivative thereof. I agree that as part of my participation in the said contest(s), Global Traveler and SCH may use my likeness(es) and image(s) in any way it may see fit to do so. I agree to have no right or entitlement to compensation of any kind for such use. I hereby agree that any dispute about or arising from my participation in the said contest(s), or the interpretation or application of this agreement, shall be settled by arbitration in accordance with the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association, 230 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19102-4121 (or alternatively, at any one of the American Arbitration Association's 35 other administrative offices across the nation upon which the parties may be able to agree in writing), and judgment on the award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction thereof. In any such award, the arbitrator(s) must award to the prevailing party(ies) their reasonable and actually incurred attorney's fees and costs of litigation/arbitration. JUDGING CRITERIA Winning photos for the Global Traveler and Priority Club Rewards Journal Page Photo Contest will be selected by the editor in chief, art director and publisher of Global Traveler. These individuals are professionals in the field of publishing and are accustomed to creating and/or using photographic images in Global Traveler magazine. Below is a list of the criteria for choosing the winner. Since the judges are asked to review a large number of entries, they are not required to provide written critiques. The judging criteria provided here should assist participants in understanding what the judges will be looking for in the photos. It is expected that individual participants will prepare accordingly by studying photographic styles and techniques in books, magazines and Internet research. While adhering to the rules provided above is the first step for entry, there are many other factors that guide the judges in deciding which photos are worthy to run on the Journal Page of Global Traveler magazine. Each category will be judged equally. These criteria include: Relevancy to Category Topic - Is the photo an obvious illustration of the category in which it is entered? If the picture doesn’t tell us, does the information on the entry form make it clear how the subject fits the category? Composition / Arrangement - Are the objects in the photo arranged in a meaningful, pleasing manner or are they haphazard? Did the photographer use the best angle or otherwise interesting perspective? Focus / Sharpness - Is the object of the photo in focus? If not in sharp focus, does it appear to be an intentional effect to enhance the image in some artistic way? Lighting - Did the photographer use proper lighting of the subject matter? Do any extremes of darkness or brightness lend to or detract from the image content? Creativity - Does the photographer show some creative thought or original idea in the making of this image? Is the subject something unusual or is the content of the photo presented in a way we haven't seen before? I agree to these terms and conditions.
