While many business travelers enjoy the fringe benefit of seeing the world as part of their job they don’t like the process of getting there.

A new study from the Global Business Travel Association Foundation and travel reservation company Sabre showed the time spent getting to business meetings and other work obligations was the most challenging part of the job for business travelers, according to 62 percent of respondents.

Other common complaints in the report include:

• Layovers (47 percent)
• Changing a flight or train reservation during the trip (42 percent)
• Work environment when traveling (40 percent)
• Preparing expense reports (34 percent)
• Changing a lodging reservation during the trip (34 percent)
• Working away from the office (20 percent)

Among the favorite perks? Convenient and comfortable hotels, non-stop flights, booking flexibility and paid time off to compensate for long trips.

“Ultimately those who travel want to save time when possible, be productive, and have a pleasant experience while accomplishing their business goals,” said Michael W. McCormick, executive director and chief operating officer, GBTA. “A better understanding of the challenges business travelers face can help organizations better serve their road warriors as they work to provide the right tools, resources and policies.”
