This past weekend, my girlfriend and I went tubing down the Delaware River. We both have fond memories of tubing as kids, so we wanted to see if it would still be as fun all these years later. Well, I must say, we were both pretty disappointed. The actual tubing experience was enjoyable, but everything else was a major disappointment. We went to a place in Frenchtown, N.J., called Delaware River Tubing. We arrived around 11:30 a.m. to what looked like a campground filled with people waiting in line to go tubing. The first line we waited in was to pay for our tube. After waiting an hour in the hot sun and spending $75 for a double tube, we made our way to the second line. This line was bigger than the first; it was the type of line you would see in Disney World. We waited 90 minutes in that line and then were finally transported by a bus to the starting point. By the time we actually started tubing, it was 2 p.m. My advice for anyone who plans to go tubing down the Delaware is to buy your own tube ahead of time and don’t go to one of these places. There were people who had their own tubes who just drove to the starting point and didn’t pay a dime. I really shouldn’t be complaining, though, because we did it to ourselves. We should have known we were getting ripped off. — Matt McNeal, account executive
