Bees And Other Insects Enjoy Safe Lodging At Luxury Hotel

Aug 27, 2015
Daily / Exclusive

It’s a sweet deal for bees at the elegant Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, where a dedicated “insect hotel” has been created to provide shelter for the resort’s own bee population and other insect species including ladybugs, butterflies and beetles. The sustainability project was begun to help these species survive during the winter months. Each has its own dedicated, appropriate habitat ranging from drilled logs and wood shavings to mosses and tree branches.

The glamorous, historic property — part of Oetker Collection‘s nine exclusive hotels — is also a haven for human travelers. Located on the French Riviera’s Provence Alpes Côte d’Azur and surrounded by scenery that inspired Matisse, Picasso and Renoir, the property’s rooms, suites and villas offer a stunning escape. Surrender to a treatment at Spa Eden-Roc Sisley, swim in the pool that’s refreshed with seawater, play a set on one of five tennis courts, shop at a selection of exclusive boutiques, or simply unwind on the beach in the shade of palm trees enveloped by the scent of wisteria.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.

Vinpearl Landmark 81, Autograph Collection Review

I am looking out at Vietnam’s largest city from the country’s tallest building. Sitting in a comfortable chair facing the floor-to-ceiling window, I have taken in the view in daylight and darkness at dusk and dawn. It’s ever-changing and always hypnotic.
