Ayurvedic Reboot

Aug 30, 2014
Daily / Exclusive

The long, warm days of summer are the perfect time to get fitness goals back on track — especially if you get to fall asleep in a restored Art Nouveau castle. Renowned for its authentic Ayurvedic programs, the elegant Parkschlösschen Bad Wildstein can be found along the western edge of Germany near Traben-Trarbach and the Moselle River. In keeping with the wellness mission of the hotel, it was retrofitted with natural materials including marble, slate, wood and pure wool. A full medical team leads private getaways and themed retreats, tailored specifically for each guest and their health needs and goals.

Along with introductory programs designed to help guests discover the benefits of the centuries-old health system of Ayurveda, visiting experts conduct meditation, yoga and lifestyle retreats. Rooms are designed to impart a feeling of harmony, from individual furnishings to color choices. Pure silk wallpapering and wool carpets enhance the natural vibe, while Chef Eckhard Fischer creates delicious gourmet cuisine with certified organic ingredients. Relaxation choices in the tranquil Veda Thermal Bath spa include a thermal swimming pool with counter current, steam bath, Finish sauna, Ayurvedic floral baths, and the Bamboo Garden with a Bankirai sundeck. Generous space is allocated for yoga and gymnastics, with a professionally equipped fitness center for optimum indoor workouts.

Fairfield by Marriott Phnom Penh Review

Phnom Penh as we imagined it stretches beneath us: a picturesque, low-rise mix of Southeast Asian and French Colonial styles. When the inhabitants of those buildings look back at us here in the Fairfield by Marriott hotel in Chip Mong Tower, they see the future.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
