Autograph Collection Hotels, part of Marriott International, welcomes its third distinctly independent property in Madrid with the opening of Hotel Círculo Gran Vía.
The stunning, Neo-Classical building is the former home of the Merchant’s and Industrialist’s Circle, now transformed into a boutique, adults-only hotel and casino, following a multimillion dollar renovation.
“We are delighted to bring new life to this iconic building in the heart of Madrid,” said John Licence, vice president of premium and select brands in Europe, Marriott International. “With its grand architecture and carefully curated design that nods to the building’s rich history, Hotel Círculo Gran Vía, Autograph Collection evokes the spirit and heritage of this captivating city and embodies our Exactly Like Nothing Else brand philosophy perfectly.”
Located on the world-famous Gran Vía, the hotel was built in the 1920s and used as a meeting place for the intellectual and literary society. The aesthetic of the hotel’s 71 stylish rooms and suites, as well as its public spaces, is inspired by its historic role.
Hotel highlights including Casino Gran Vía, the most famous casino in Madrid, and the Royal Hall, a grand space dotted with elaborate furnishings serving as the hotel’s living area where guests can relax and enjoy a drink.
Hotel Círculo Gran Vía, Autograph Collection is the brand’s third independent hotel in Madrid, joining Hotel Palacio Del Retiro and Hotel Santo Mauro.

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
