Atlantis’s first resort in China officially opened April 29 with a VIP-packed grand opening, including government officials, business leaders and Chinese celebrities.
The event showcased a five-act theatrical tour de force that featured 43 performers, dramatic musical performances and fireworks to embody the legend of Atlantis.
Located on the Haitang Bay, Sanya, in Hainan province, the $2 billion hotel features an Ambassador Lagoon which houses more than 86,000 ocean dwelling species; the 200,000-square-metre waterpark; and the 1,800-seat theatre, Dolphin Cay. The property overlooks Haitang Beach and the South China Sea with a 52-storey tower as its centerpiece. Also within the hotel are 21 restaurants, lounges, bars and cafés.
Guests can scuba dive in the Ambassador Lagoon, swim with sea mammals in Dolphin Cay and enjoy shows and demonstrations.
Accommodations for guests include 1,314 guestrooms and 154 suites, seven under water. The resort’s mall houses a number of boutiques and designer brands such as Gucci, Prada and Chanel.
Atlantis Sanya also offers a 5,000-square-metre MICE facility comprising two ballrooms, two boardrooms, business centres and an experienced events team.
