To raise awareness about breast cancer and assist with raising money to finance breast cancer research through Susan G. Komen, American Airlines and its more than 100,000 employees launched its Be Pink breast cancer awareness initiative for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Throughout the month of October, American’s customers have the opportunity to join employee efforts to promote awareness and action against the disease and even receive rewards for participating in the program.
Customers who make a minimum $25 donation to American’s Miles for the Cure program earn 20 AAdvantage miles for each dollar contributed online.
Throughout their journeys this month, passengers will also experience the Be Pink initiative both on the ground and at 35,000 feet. Many of American’s employees will don Be Pink accessories as part of their uniforms to commemorate the cause, including socks, ties and scarves. Passengers will also see select Be Pinked-branded items such as Be Pink lemonade onboard and special menu items in select Admirals Club lounges.
This fall marks the 21st year America presents the American Airlines Celebrity Golf and Tennis Weekend, held later this month. The event is more than just popular; it has successfully supported breast cancer research through Susan G. Komen by raising more than $11.5 million since its launch in 1995.
The carrier has supported the fight against breast cancer for more than 30 years and is the Official Airline of Susan G. Komen. Last year, more than $1 million was raised to support the cause through the generosity of employees, customers and corporate contributions. Customers can visit aa.com/bepink to learn more about joining the company’s efforts to create a world without breast cancer.
