One great reason to book your international flights with a connection through San Francisco (SFO) is to enjoy the airport’s ongoing museum exhibitions. Over the next few months, here’s what’s on:

International Terminal, Departures Level 3, Pre-Security (through Nov. 12)

Before flight was a reality, we walked and, as anyone who spends time in today’s modern international airport cities knows, comfortable shoes are a must. Learn about the history of footwear and how it was created to meet specific needs, from cowboy boots and sports shoes to stilts and platforms worn by people living in wet areas in order to keep feet dry. “Stepping Out: Shoes in World Cultures” showcases shoes from the 19th and 20th centuries from a multitude of countries and cultures.

International Terminal, Departures Level 3, Pre-Security (through Dec. 10)

The Arts and Crafts Movement, born in 1880s England, is the focus of this exhibition. Pieces include furnishings and goods such as Gustav Stickley textiles, Dirk van Erp copper and Rookwood and Paul Revere Pottery. “At Home with Arts and Crafts” also details the movement’s spread to the United States, and how women rose in this form to become leaders as designers and decorators.

T2, Departures Level 2, Post-Security (through Jan. 28, 2018)

Revolutionizing communication with its introduction, the typewriter allowed for new speed, ease and an efficiency offering a modern alternative to the laborious process of handwriting documents. Explore the evolution of this now largely obsolete invention in “The Typewriter: An Innovation in Writing,” which includes a fascinating collection of machines reflecting its history through design and aesthetics, with examples of Asian typewriters with thousands of individual characters.

T3, Departures Level 2, Post-Security (through March 4, 2018)

“Flying the Main Line: A History of United Airlines” is a retrospective of United’s history, going back to its creation resulting from a merger between Boeing Air Transport, Pacific Air Transport, National Air Transport and Varney Air Lines, formalized in 1931. The exhibit includes more than 300 artifacts, and also takes a look at the company’s early history with biplane and pre-war piston-engine craft through the jet age and United’s most recent venture with its United Polaris service.

In fact, trips from Athens ports to the islands take only between 10 minutes and two hours, depending on the island you choose, making them perfect for day or weekend trips. From Piraeus port, you can access Hydra, Spetses, Aegina and Poros directly. Come explore these stunning islands with us and find the inspiration to plan your next trip to these islands. Hydra Hydra town curves around a slope overlooking the Argosaronic Gulf like an amphitheater and is considered one of the most romantic destinations in Greece. Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.

Vinpearl Landmark 81, Autograph Collection Review

I am looking out at Vietnam’s largest city from the country’s tallest building. Sitting in a comfortable chair facing the floor-to-ceiling window, I have taken in the view in daylight and darkness at dusk and dawn. It’s ever-changing and always hypnotic.
