According to data collected by AirlineRatings.com, a website that reviews and publicizes information regarding air travel products and safety, the 2018 airline of the year is Air New Zealand.
This is the airline’s fifth year as world’s best, the highest number of times any of the world’s 435 airlines claimed the title. The title goes to an airline achieving the highest standards for on-time performance; in-flight amenities and innovations; operational safety; and environmental impact. Editors pull data from government audits and safety inspections, but also look closely at traveler reviews, the year’s profits, staff satisfaction and offered products. For 2018, Air New Zealand ranked the highest in most of these categories.
Coming in behind Air New Zealand are Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Virgin Australia, Virgin Atlantic and Etihad Airways.
Air New Zealand connects the chain of islands with Australia, North America, South America, Asia and the United Kingdom, serving a major percentage of the world’s travelers.
