Airport Council International found sound economic conditions in the first quarter of 2018 helped bolster air transport demand worldwide. The major markets in the Asia-Pacific region achieved not only high growth in passenger throughput, but were also the largest contributors to global growth in air transport demand.
Passenger travel grew by 8.2 per cent in the first quarter of 2018, with China boasting more than 35 per cent of the region’s traffic. Guangzhou (CAN) alone grew by 6.4 per cent in the first quarter. In India, Bangalore (BLR), Delhi (DEL) and Mumbai (BOM) experienced double-digit growth. Passenger traffic in South Korea (ICN) grew by 10 per cent.
