Adelaide Airport is set to expand. The $165 million project will improve the arrival and departure experience for international passengers and create additional retail and dining outlets. As the largest upgrade since its existing terminal opened in 2005, the new expansion is scheduled for completion in 2021.
International passenger numbers nearly tripled since 2005, leading to the expansion decision. Upgrades will include a second, longer baggage belt for international arrivals, more space for emigration and immigration processing, expanded security screening, a larger duty-free area and more dining and retail options. Retail areas will be refurbished and the Virgin Australia lounge will relocate .
A $50 million, 165-room Atura Hotel will link directly to the terminal and open this December.
